6-12 Months From Retirement

Make sure you’re registered on the MERP Member Portal, preferably using a personal email rather than a work email. Then, brush up on how the MERP operates by reviewing the content available on the website, and don’t hesitate to contact the Trust Office with any questions or concerns.

Review your estimated benefit and confirm that your mailing address is correct. Ensure your beneficiaries, including your spouse and children under age 26, are up-to-date. If you haven’t already done so, consider changing your user email to your personal email rather than your work email.

Typically, the Trust Office will find out about a retirement within a couple of months of the event. You'll receive a welcome packet to your home address (remember to check the Member Portal to be sure your address is up-to-date). Get your packet earlier if you contact the Trust Office to notify them of your upcoming retirement.
